Banana splits dessert

Go straight to our recipes

banana split A banana splits dessert must be one of the most popular dishes on the planet. It's a combination of some of my favourite foods all on the one plate - bananas, ice cream and whipped cream, with a splashing of syrup - now that's what I call paradise!

There is nothing difficult about making this dish which takes only minutes to prepare.

Children will love this dessert with the added bonus that they are eating bananas which are full of energy giving carbohydrates and loaded with fibre, not to mention the fact that they are high in iron and vitamins.

Use fresh bananas not the ones which are going black. If you have got some over ripe bananas, why not try making a banana smoothie.

Simply take a banana, a glass of cold milk, four or five ice cubes and honey, place them together in a blender and enjoy.

In our recipe below we have used fresh strawberries and strawberry syrup, but you can choose any fruit and any syrup flavour you want.

Finish your banana split dessert with a cocktail umbrella to give it that tropical look.

Serve it in a long serving plate such as the one below in the picture or on a flat plate. Please dont use a bowl as it completely destroys the look of this dish and presentation is part of the enjoyment.

For one serving
  • 1 banana
  • 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
  • 1 tablespoon of whipped cream
  • 2 or 3 fresh strawberries or apple slices
  • strawberry syrup
Cut the banana in half, length wise.

Place your banana in a long dish with the halves side by side.

Put two scoops of ice cream into the middle of the banana halves.

Spoon onto the top of the ice cream some whipped cream.

Drizzle strawberry syrup over all the dessert.

Decorate with fresh strawberries or slices of apples.

Serve your banana splits recipe immediately.
